A Dose of Reality

Trying to live a victorious Christian life without a daily dose of the Scriptures is like trying to run your car on an empty tank, work all week on an empty stomach, or pay your bills on an empty cheque account.

Steve Farrar writes: "I need to be reminded of what is true. God's Word gives me a dose of reality. My morning briefing in the Word gives me a perspective that I don't get in the world. I need God's commentary on my life every day. A Christian¡ in this society is swimming upstream. Without the constant nutrition of the Word, he will soon tire and be dragged off by the sheer force of the current." So, spend time each day in the Scriptures!

Hey that encouragement was appreciated! Reading the Word is like Electrolite It rehydrates our system. It is amazing the breakdown that happens in the body when dehydrated.....so why wouldn't it be the same spiritually? Thanks for the good reminder.

Oh, and here is a little tidbit I found encouraging. Every organ and part in the body requires signals from the brain to keep operational. (Ex: my eyes move because my brain first told them to). If those signals don't get through, if something hinders those signals, then organ function is hindered and that affects the health of the body. (If I am not in His Word consistently, listening for His still small voice, I may miss His signals) But get this - the heart operates independently. It does not require a signal from the brain to pump. The point? We must get "our signals" from God to be effective, but He has given me a free heart to sit at His feet and learn from Him.....or not. The choice is mine!

here is something for you as you enter 2007 --

"Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: His going forth is prepared as the morning; and He shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth." Hosea 6:3

Reflecting on this past year, allow the Holy Spirit to invade your heart convicting and drawing you to Himself. Ask for wisdom, courage, and faith to continue on whatever happens this next year!

To you and those you love, Happy New Year ! Will you set with me the goal to wake up each morning open to the work of transformation in us each day He gives us. To reflect His glory and to grow more like the spiritual image of our Crist Jesus is the expected and wonderful out come of such a goal . This will be a blessed year if we make this choice !

In His love and hope ,

Barry
